Had the dealer put my A8 and an A6 side by side. for comparison. My wife and I checked them both out thoroughly. Drove them both.

The final comparison , well there isn't any. A8 is hands down far superior car, well worth the difference. Wi;; pick it up Wednesday.

It SHOULD be a better car since it costs a fair amount more. I've driven the A8L and A6/4.2 and own the 3.2. I am quite happy with the 3.2, but; if I could get it past my wife, I would most definitely opt for the A8. It is an awesome car!

It is a beautiful car, and easily the best in its class in terms of design.

I guess your comparison is based at the size and specs, and probably the comfort levels too. Head to head with a friends A8, he gives up 0.8 secs to 60 mph to my A6. I would also reckon that the A6 outhandles the A8 in the canyons, esp since the front suspension on the C6 has been moved forward a couple of inches.

I would have bought the S4 avant, but the wife wanted a bigger car. So we have the A6, but I'm not complaining.
