Car in sport mode is very responsive. Car in drive is not. My '01 2.7 never required me to move the shifter out of D; it always anticipated my need for speed. The 3.2 is not as intuitive and I often need to shift down into sport mode. In "D" when I step on the gas the car fights me if I want more than 4,000 RPM; in "Sport" it gets to 4k with no problem at all and more when I need it. Give me another 25 horses and a more intuitive transmission and I would not ask for more.

Suspension needs to be a little more forgiving on rough roads. The car is a little too tight for me. A little more noise isolation on bumps would help too. I test drove a '04 2.7 allroad and it was really a quiet ride.

BTW I sometimes hear a slight metallic sound in the front end on certain bumps. Anyone else
hear this?

throughout the VAG and Porsche lineups worldwide for MY2008. Apparently, DSG is far superior to tiptronic in every concievable way. There will most likely (but not definitely) be a horsepower boost too for all engines for MY2007 or MY2008 to keep up with increasingly stiff (with a capital I and a capital S) competition. Some engines will get a torque boost and possibly a displacement boost as well. Some won't, as some engines won't need torque or displacement boosts.

The pontiac I owned 5 years ago did that, and it drove me crazy. The A6 isn't as bad, but I wonder what the noise is. My last car (Mercedes) was smooth and quiet over bumps, so it's not something that all cars do.
