April 06-03-2005, 06:45 PM Don't know additional drain, but you might be able to work backward from energy used, and alternator load. Life Rules 06-04-2005, 02:28 AM that the new A6 DRL's don't affect fuel economy much at all. That was something they were touting... Life Rules 06-04-2005, 07:22 AM Found this on the initial review on car.kak.net "Daytime driving lights for extra safety The significant improvement of safety provided by permanent operation of the headlights also during the day used to mean extra energy and fuel consumption amounting to approximately 0.2 litres per 100 km. This is why, with the exception of a few countries, this technology has so far not been introduced Europe-wide. And this is a shame, considering that daytime operation of the headlights helps to enhance driving safety, particularly when the sun is at a low angle, when driving on the motorway or in town. With the low and high beams in the xenon plus headlights being integrated in one and the same - the outer - unit, the inner reflector remains free for daytime operation of the headlights. A dimmed lamp serves as the source of light, while the other lights are switched off. The result is virtually no increase in fuel consumption whatsoever."

About half way down the page

jefman 06-04-2005, 11:44 AM So that means for every 500 KM's (300 miles) you use 1 liter (roughly 1 qt). In monetary terms at today's prices 40 cents/300 miles. April 06-04-2005, 01:49 PM I changed out to Euro lights housings on my Alfa for a better beam pattern, and it has a seperate low powered bulb that comes on with the parking lamps. Very useful at dusk. The fog lights are controlled separately. |
