I am trying to find a phone which is compatible with my new A6, picked it up today. After searching the internet for several hours, as well as this forum, all I have been able to find are comments related to Verizon disabling features from this phone, limiting its usefulness with the A6.

Has anyone on the forum either found a phone that works completely with the A6, or specifically experience with the V710 in Canada, using Telus, which I assume has not disabled support as Verizon has done.

Any input appreciated. I don't know why a simple question like this does not have an answer that can be instantly found on the internet.

I don't really have an answer since I don't know much about Canadian cellular providers, but I can tell you that I have been very unhappy with my V710 on Verizon.

You might be able to find some answers here:

Otherwise, it looks like the V551 is available from Rogers. I have one as my second phone on Cingular and it works great with the A6.

Do you guys have wireless number portability up there?

I know that the Sony Ericson T637 phone integrates seamlessly with the C6. That's including handling the call, phone book download etc. I'm not sure whom provides service in Canada with this phone so you'll have to look into that. Best of luck.

Thanks for the input. It seems that Rogers (AT&T) supports several phones that will work. However Telus support seems limited to the V710, which has problems by all accounts. I was hoping that someone would have tried it successfully with Telus, or proven conclusively that it will no work.

My alternative is to bite the bullet, and switch to Rogers, and get the Motorola RAZr, which I quite like to the look and feel of, and which my Audi dealer demonstrated does work. The problem, even with a 3 year discount it is expensive, and I would have to pay a $180 penalty for cancelling my Telus service.

With Telus and the V710, I am looking at $300.00 for the new phone, versus $700 for the RAZR and cancellation fees, plus phone number change. Not sure this is worth $400 difference.

Don't get the RAZR! There have been multiple posts on here about it not being able to end calls. The only resolution apparently is to turn off one's RAZR. You don't want to spend all that money and have it unable to do somthing as simple as end a call.

Posted elsewhere, but to complete this thread:

I send a request for clarification of the V710 capabilities on Telus. I received the following reply:
