View Full Version : jerky brakes

The only thing that consistently annoys me about my new A6 is the brake pedal. The pedal rubber is sticky enough to catch my shoe soles and so when I want to brake to a stop, movement of the pedal is jerky and hence the car jerks to a stop. As I depress the pedal more, in other cars I have driven, the pedal will slide under my foot, gradually easing the pedal to the floor. In my A6, as the I apply more pressure to the pedal, it will grab my shoe sole, then let go, creating a sudden downward pressure on the pedal, resulting in a sudden increase in braking force.

Has anyone else noticed this? Has anyone arrived at a fix? One pair of shoes I own works well with the brake pedal (that pair of shoes has a soft rubber sole) while the rest of them don't. I'm powerless to brake smoothly with 90% of my shoes - that's really annoying!!!

I had the same problem but it happens less and less. I have 5,000 miles on the car. A dirty pedal works better, I guess...
