and left me with instructions to clean out my storage room in the garage. After a lot of planning I figured the best answer to this request was to polish the car. Fortunately in the garage was the A6.

The following post is my attempt at following the wife's orders :)

The wash -

As you can see the car being new has a very nice shine after a wash with Dawn detergent to remove all traces of polish and wax if any that is on the car now. My goal was to keep the shine but add the protection of wax.

The second step was the cleaner, Meguiare's Step 1 Cleaner

Some say in this following picture you can see a VW Touareg, after many hours of staring at the picture I still don't see it ....

Next comes the polish ....

<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/57976/a11.jpg" />

Not much change can be seen from the pictures but in person there is a noticable change in the deepness of the color, 8 hours later came the next layer of polish and then Sunday morning more pics .....

This is a picture of my subdivision as seen through the reflection of the drivers door ...

<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/57976/a14.jpg" />

<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/57976/a17.jpg" />

<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/57976/a18.jpg" />

And finally wax was added, and my goal was achieved, the shine and protection were there.
Although in my opinion this 58K car as too much orange peel, the car looks great.

While I had a great time with the A6, I am hoping that my wife will be surprised at my attempt to clean the storage room.

...then (I hate to say this) I'd be suspicious of body repair work done at the port. Hope not though.

Any way, the car looks great!

It has that orange peel look, but its not as entense as true orange peel. From what I have read its due to the paint mixes required to meet EPA/EU pollution guidelines.

Not literally a shot, but you know what I mean.

Only prob is that I am in Louisiana, I think I am the only Audi owner down here.

and I don't need to tell you how much work it is to clean it since you have one as well. Secondly you'll need a plane ticket to come.....

But that new allroad concept had me drooling for 24 hours now and it's seems more and more likely it'll be an allroad or Q7 in 4 years time...

Couple of questions:
1) Did you get the sport seats? Yea or nay?
2) Is your polish and wax work by hand or do you use an orbital machine?

Thanks.
