View Full Version : Fuel door will not close (and other questions)...

I'm driving a A6 3.2 press vehicle for the week (see the image of the "spinners" from earlier in the week) and it's fuel door won't close. Anybody else have this problem? It appears that the little pin that is suppose to cause it to latch, is stuck in the "open" position all the time.

Another question - is Audi no longer including a Trip Computer with the car?? I haven't gone through the owners manual yet, I usually like to see how much I can figure out on my own before I resort to the manual, but this A6 doesn't seem to have any of the trip computer features. All it shows me what I think is the estimated miles left in the tank.

Lastly, more of a comment than a question. But I've found the windshield wipers on this A6 to be the worse wipers I've ever encountered on a new (or any) vehicle. Very poor contact with the window and the rain sensitive feature was a complete joke during a light snow storm on Tuesday. A Touareg I drove in October had similar wipers and they weren't great either. I've read some of the posts on wipers and they do seem to be a weak point.

I may have some other questions before I give the car back on Tuesday, but those are the ones I can think of now.

On the positive side, this A6 actually corners fairly flat for its size. And, for the first time ever, I've very impressed with the Bose sound system.

No problems with the wipers or the fuel door here. The trip computer is optional I believe, part of the convenience package.

My 2005 A6 Photos

Inside the trunk (right side) is a removable panel. Open that, then remove the jack and you should see a pull ring. To use it properly, pull rearward and out at about a 45 deg angle. See page 305 in the owners manual. Someone may have pulled it at the wrong angle and caused it to bind.

As jakeller writes, the driver information display is part of the convenience package. Otherwise, check the end of the windshield wiper stalk for the up/down button. There are 2 trip computers on the C6, #1 resets after each drive, #2 resets manually.

On the wipers, I just took delivery of mine today and they worked reasonably well in light rain/sleet, but occasionally I had to manually select intermittent by moving the time delay thumbwheel. To reset auto rain sensing set the lever off or to continuous on and then back to intermittent (auto).

So far I LOVE the new car.

And yes, it looks like this A6 doesn't have the trip computer. Can't believe that Audi has made that an option - it seems that's been a standard feature for years.

I was also suprised to see that the headlight washers are no longer standard either - thats been another standard Audi feature (in the US at least) for a long time.

Don't complain since the US cars are the best equiped Audis for the least price ^^

Windshield washers are part of the cold weather package. Since your car doesn't have the convenience package either, I bet it doesn't have the premium package, also.

Probably few, if any dealers, actually order cars without premium and convenience packages, and a lot of individuals (like me) order theirs with cold weather, too. Total $4900 over base for those 3 packages. This is all for the C6 3.2
