Wondering about anybody's experiences with the voice recognition system and the advanced key? Do they work well? Are they worth it, or just gimmicky?

I'm wavering between the 3.2 and the 4.2 right now. I still feel like the 3.2 is underpowered, because I expected it to drive like the 2.7T, but the 4.2 may be overdoing it a bit. However, the 4.2 isn't that much more expensive (about $2K) once I get done loading both cars up how I want.

Thanks in advance for all input!!

I have an Allroad 2.7T and a new 3.2 A6. The 3.2 is far superior to the 2.7T. For me, it's not at all underpowered. Perhaps you haven't tried it in the Sport mode. In drive, the trans seems to start in 2nd gear, thus seeming sluggish from stop, like it's underpowered. In Sport, first is definitely there and it's a real rocket. No suffering at all from the ole' turbo lag like in the 2.7T. Give the 3.2 a second chance because the gas mileage is a lot better and it really does feel like a small V8 with all of its low end torque.

Regarding advanced key, it's really cool for us gadget heads. I'm enjoying it alot. I don't have voice recognition, so I can't comment on that.

Great car all around. Far superior to old A6.

I have the advanced key and I like that a lot. I would think it's something you could get used to really fast.

I don't even know if I have the voice recognition because I've only had the car for a couple of days, and I haven't had a chance to check out all the features.

I went from an A4 1.8T to an A6 3.2 and it seems like the gas mileage on the two cars are about the same!! - I'm pretty amazed that the 3.2 FSI uses around the same amount of fuel as a much lighter car with a 1.8 engine.

It does start in second gear according to the salesman that accompanied me on my test drive yesterday. It was still a little slow off the line when I was shifting it myself in Tip, however.

I'm (finally) definitely sold on the Audi vs. the Acura RL. I was wavering back and forth, but was out in my 98 A4 2.8 this morning thinking how much I enjoy driving a Quattro!

Essentially all I get (in addition to the V8) by going with the 4.2 vs. the 3.2 is the power steering column and heated wheel--everything else I can add as an option to the 3.2. 4.2 owners--does the power steering column adjust with memory, or just the mirrors and seats?

Also, can anybody (3.2 or 4.2 owners) comment on gas mileage? Gas in NoVA is horrendously expensive...

As for mileage, I've been getting 22-23 mpg in mixed rural driving. Small sample size though-I just got the car on Saturday.

Read my review. The advanced key is cool, it works well. Not sure on voice recognition because didn't get to use it.
