I can't get a clear, definitive answer about whether the NAV system can be dealer installed on cars that come from the factory without NAV. Does anyone know for sure?

View Full Version : Can DVD NAV be installed by dealers? Maui19 11-14-2004, 12:04 PM I can't get a clear, definitive answer about whether the NAV system can be dealer installed on cars that come from the factory without NAV. Does anyone know for sure? Karljr79 11-15-2004, 09:58 AM From what I understand it is not a dealer installed option and can only be factory installed. Kind of wierd considering the MMI screen and interface is all there. You would think it would be just a matter of mounting the DVD reader in the rack in the trunk, plugging it in and installing software. I had a ML320 Mercedes a couple of years ago and the nav was dealer installed because the screen was standard. Maui19 11-15-2004, 11:10 AM I've heard different things from different dealers. Some say yes and some say no. Hard to know who to belive. Maui19 11-15-2004, 11:24 AM Update: I called Audi USA and was told that Nav is, in fact, a dealer installable option. AsKmE 11-15-2004, 11:34 AM but it's not only installing the DVD Nav reader. The GPS antenna has to be installed, the whole MMI software has to be flashed with a new software and a couple of wiring has to be done. But technically it's possible and is offered by Audi in Europe. But it's cheaper and better to get the car with the Nav from the factory. Maui19 11-16-2004, 10:43 AM After extensive review by my sales guy, who went up the chain all the way to Audi, there is currently no NAV retrofit available for the 2005 A6. I have been told Audi has received a lot in inquiries about it and is working on a solution, but as of now, non exist. Bummer. |
