View Full Version : 137 miles after delivery......

I was worried that I had made a mistake. My previous car was a 2002 530i, and I have been anxious about delivery day since I plunked down my deposit in August.

I picked up my Oyster 3.2 sport in the morning yesterday, drove to work, took off my jacket, sat at my desk, put my jacket back on, drove home, and sat in my driveway for an hour twisting the MMI know.

Went into the house, took off my jacket, sat on the couch, put my jacket back on, got into the car, 10 minutes of twisting the knob, and starting the car without a key, and then took off down the turnpike.

Somewhat thrilling to be sternly admonished by the German sounding female NAV voice. "NOW, take a right turn."

Kept the car in S mode, cracked the windows, and listened to the throaty sound of the engine. I can't imagine ever not using the sport. The transmission is a blast.

Went home, got out, got back in and drove off again.

I might have a problem going back to my regular self.

Anybody need any errands done?

By chance, did you drive the 4.2 before deciding on the 3.2 ? Trying to decide whether or not to get a loaded 3.2 or go for the 4.2 because there is a preety big price difference.

It really is about the transmission for me, not the engine. If it were a small amount, say $2,000 or so, I would go with the 4.2.

I like the zoom factor of the 6 speed, and didn't notice any real difference, when I drove the 3.2. Car magazine afficianados worry about the actual stats way too much. Can anyone really feel the difference between these two engines without test equipment? Does it realy matter?

I bought a 530 previously and did the same dance between the 540 and the 530.

I drove the 4.2, then the 3.2 and found them to be significantly different. The 3.2 seemed a little sluggish off the line, while the 4.2 was amazingly responsive. I was sold on the 4.2, but may go back and try the 3.2 again, since the 4.2 is very hard to find right now.
