Wheels always finish the design of a car. I've seen pics of of the new A6 with the standard 17" wheels that come up short in this regard and I'm embarrassed for them. If you can afford a 50k car, pony up a few extra $$ and get the rims that complete the look. Check out the new demo A6 V8 at Niello here in Sacramento. Regardless of whether or not you like the style of the new design, you have to admit it's complete with the 18" rims.
A direct comptetitor to the A6, the Acura RL was coming and I was somewhat interested until the production car was available. All the press pics that were put out included the car with 20" rims which really made the car look just right. The production car comes with 17" rims that don't do anything to accentuate the design of the car. On their website, the original wheels seen in the press pics aren't even available to purchase.
I'm not for pimpin' your ride with gold spokes or 22" spinners. But design doesn't stop at the body of the car. I know manufacturers just want extra money by offering upgraded wheels but trust me, it's worth it.
