Hi all, after much waiting I now own the very first A6 delivered to Audi of Oakland. It's a 3.2 in midnight blue pearl with platinum interior plus the premium pkg, convenience pkg, nav system, XM radio, and 17" wheels.
So far it has exceeded my expectations. This is my third Audi, with the previous models being a 99 A4 1.8T and an 02 TT coupe. The 3.2 has plenty of power and felt almost as strong as the 4.2 that I drove a few weeks ago. The Servotronic steering takes some getting used to, especially after the TT. The ride is a bit stiffer than I was expecting, but again, better than the TT.
There are an amazing number of small touches on the car. Ambient lights in all the footwells, plus on the door. The controls are bathed in red light which is beamed down from above. At night I feel like I'm flying a 747 instead of driving a car. MMI is fairly intuitive though I needed to do some manual reading. Nav works well, though it doesn't know my street (which is about 1.5 years old). I love XM Radio and I'm glad I got that option.
I posted a few teaser pics on my blog and will post some exterior pictures once the Bay Area weather clears up.
Oh, and thanks to Ernst Gosch (now in Oakland) for getting me the car so quickly. I was coming off another lease so he made sure my car was built ASAP!
