I had some experience with the Audi car phone system in my 2002 A6 2.7T. It did not work properly and I would like to know if the bugs are worked out of the new A6 Bluetooth. My new vehicle will be here in mid Dec and the dealer wants to order the cradle for my new phone.

With the Bluetooth:
1) Will the phone stay turned on at all times even when the key is removed? (The previous system disconnected the phone when the ignition was turned off. You would shut down the car to refuel and when you turned on the vehicle you found a message from a caller you missed while refueling.)
2) When using the phone through the mike is communication clear? (Previous system was very difficult to understand at the receiving end.)
3) Are you able to unplug the phone and walk away from the car without being disconnected?

1- when you turn off the car the phone stays on, only the BT connection is of
2-the communication is very clear
3-when you disconnect the car the connection is turned of, but if the car is on and you walk away with the phone, it stays connected to the car untill is in the range of BT

Clarification
1) If you turn off the car the phone stays on. Does that mean it will receive a call with its built in aerial?
3)If the phone is plugged in to the car and you are using the phone when you turn off the car, will or will not the call be disconnected?
4) If you are using the phone and disconnect it from the car connection will the call be disconnected?
Sorry to belabour this but my experience with the previous system was very frustrating and the Audi people in Michigan had no concept of how a car phone should work in the real world.

1-yes
2-no
3-same of above, no

the only thing is the phonebook of the car must be manually inserted or when a number calls you dont know who is (if you don't have the number or don't remeber who's from)

if you have a integrated phone by audi, it will have all options and phone book of the phone.

I use it and its great, except for the phonebook thing, because I have to insert my names and # because I don't remember all (300#) but you can also work with the phone, use phonebook, etc. and make calls from phone or steering wheel comands or even MMI.
