does anyone know when that would be available? I'm getting ready to pull the trigger and may wait for DSG.

their Quattro GT car back in the day which is a North South configuration they'd have it before they would have it for the transverse. But then again from a production standpoint the transverse engine is in a lot more cars so economies of scale i guess.

The new 3.2 FSI V6 may be a more advanced engine, but the DSG would more than makeup for the VR6's shortcomings.

Seven speed DSG with the 5.2L V10 in the new S6; six speed DSG with all other engines in the base and S Line versions of the new A6.
