Does solar sunroof make black interior bearable in southern summer heat? SAF 01-26-2007, 01:16 PM so it is pretty much like the outside air tempevery time I have gotten in it. I have it with black interior and I live near Houston...wouldn't give it up for anything. jatwrite 01-26-2007, 02:26 PM Someone else said it better in an earlier post, but it went something like this: If the car is driven til warm/hot and then parked for, say, an hour or two, the solar powered system will suck that warm engine compartment air into the passenger compartment. In winter this is OK, but in summer it can actually make the interior hotter in my experience. But if the car is parked for, say, eight hours, that allows time for the engine to cool. So, by then, the air sucked in should reflect what's happening outside, i.e. not warmed by the engine. In summer this can result in the car being cooler inside, which is what the system is supposed to do (finally!). But in winter it can result in a colder interior. néné 01-26-2007, 07:10 PM In the Summer, the heat from engine bay circulates in the car. In the Winter, if it is sunny, the cold air circulates. Did not think it was a great option. It's ok. If I had to choose it, would probably pass on it. Maybe someone using a VAG COM could figure it out for sure. néné 01-27-2007, 05:18 PM Honest mistake. SAF 01-27-2007, 08:42 PM |
