I like the Hoffel design large mouth grill on the older D3 Audi A8L. Too bad they don't offer it for the A6, S6 RS6. :-(

I don't think you'd get a whole lot more air in this way - the grill is bigger, but also more slanted. The vertical dimension of the opening is likely an inch or so more..
