Hard cornering tonight, heard what sounded like a sleigh bell go rolling across the pavement. No noticeable compromise in performance or odd sounds, but we'll visit the dealer tomorrow.

easy enough to sight from under the car.

Take it easy going around corners till it's fixed.

...re-mounting the part I found on the street (!) and one new mounting cup/bracket. Swaybar was just hanging there. "OMG, Frances could have been injured!!"

And get this: The studs/bolts (or whatever) onto which the mounting brackets attach were completely undamaged. None sheared off, not even a thread stripped. Without saying anything, I believe the tech HAD to be thinking, "Am I certain I re-mounted those with the compression nuts when I changed the oil a few weeks back?"

Oh, well, no harm; no foul.

Frances is resting comfortably.

...every time the sway bar is lowered (for oil changes or whatever)? Seems to me like maybe the nylon (or whatever it is) in the compression bolt might somehow lose its retaining efficacy.

I'm no engineer, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express recently.

you don't have to drop the sway bar, i don't know why everyone does it. i've only encountered one so far that i HAD to drop the sway bar to get the filter out. i pull them past the intercooler pipe and motor mount below the right side axle. then i douche it all with brake kleen so it wont drip all over your drive way. that one single drop i miss on one car will always fall on a customers driveway that he JUST had fresh concrete poured so it looks like he lost aprox 1 gallon of oil and thinks his engine is going to explode. murphy's law, every time......
