View Full Version : So which tuners are making power for your cars?

A shop that I work with has a client that is thinking about a turbo upgrade. So far, I've found kits from MTM, AMD, Sportec & Dahlback Racing.

Anyone have any of these chips or turbo upgrades installed? Dyno testing? Thanks!

I know they would deliver on a quality product. Plus, someone at a dealer had me drive a GIAC chipped RS6 and it was very impressive on the low end.

Not convinced I need to chip an "already at" 450 HP car, but I can always be talked into it.

Revo Technik
Flash over " Ghost Chip" with sps3 controller
Performance setting 1 with turbo setting 6 on the dyno 550bhp/600torque (stock 450/420) . The torque is off the chain, more BHP and torque possible I am still experimenting with air fuel mixtures and value timming and there are 3 more boost setting for the turbo's that I haven't had the gut's to try yet.
Istook motor sports did the flash over, less then 1 hour install, its been in the car for a year, dealer has no clue( as long as you reset the conroller) before service.

No
But I did have some tranny issues that popped up after tracking the car for the 1st time post flash over, but they were caused by a bad micro switch in the down paddle, since replaced, no issues

Revo says if I exceed the recommended boost setting ( I am 3 steps below right now) then that can cause tranny issues as well as others. I have been keeping my fingers crossed and have a great Track head service manager at my dealership who hooked me up with Don Istook who programed my car. By the way Nice stable! Mine is Avus as well

Keep them coming!!! If we ever get a test car, we'll have LaBree make some exhaust products for the RS6!!!

it's not overly complicated - too much torque and not enough thought to rush out a product with inadequate parts to get the job done.

There are a lot of theories. You could search and find a dozen reasons. I know why mine failed, but that might be different from others. Mine failed because the clutch discs within the trans itself couldn't handle the load put on them under full acceleration based on the software mapping provided for the American RS6's. Americans want soft sloppy smooth shifts and under WOT that was putting way too much stress on the clutch discs when shifting from gear to gear. Logic would tell you to re-program the trans software for a quicker tighter shift. (Read harder.) AOA won't do that and any aftermarket tuner that does it instantly voids the warranty. You may not get caught, but if you do, bye bye to about $12,000 for a new trans plus labor.

Gee, what about the European software programming? AOA will tell you, and the dealers will tell you, that they can not and will not put it on the cars as it's not compatible with some other electronic systems within the vehicle. Of course they won't tell you what that means so basically you are SOL.

You are well versed, I am wondering why I have been problem free? I have read about issues but have not experienced any of them. Could it be that I am not dialed in to enough power to cause a problem? torque is set @ 600lbft, REVO states 700 range possible but not reccomended. Same on BHP running 550 now, upwards of 625-635 possible.
I am sure dialing it up further will cause something to blow and blow big$$

would Audi have made fixes for every known cause?

the cars in general. Some cars never leave the shop and others seem trouble free. Driving styles? Levels of paying attention to detail? Some guys more anal than others? Yes to all I suppose.

using redline trans fluid? Its very thick but supposed to cushion the trans.
