I have read that a lot of A4 owners also have the same problem that I do with the bumpers being scratched. I was wondering if anyone has thought about having the Stoneguard company just laser cut a long strip of material for the rear bumper. I have the front end kit and the material can take bumps and scratches quite well. Let me know if anyone knows how to find out if they can do that. Thanks

You can cut wide strips of static cling window film available from your local autosupply store and stick them on you bumbers. The window film is not too noticable at a glance on DARK cars. Advantage is that it's pretty thick and removable. Disadvantages: not permanent, mismatched color.
Drew

I found a shop that has clear, adhesive-backed polyurethane in big 14" wide rolls. Identical to the stuff Stoneguard uses. With a heat gun and some solution to activate the glue, they could cover any part of your car. They could probably cover the bumpers w/o any problems. I had the front edges of the hood/fenders and A-pillars done for about half what Stoneguard costs.
No color matching problems, barely noticeable edges, seems to be holding up well after 13 months, including a salty/rocky/sandy winter in Denver.
Check with your local detail/accessory/body shops, somebody can probably do it...
AJL
98 Passat

Stongard uses a water/alcohol solution for installation, similar to window tint. It is actually self adhesive, but the solution allows repositioning for a while when installing. (The Stongard urethane is made by 3M).
