I must be nuts but i just drove 1150 miles with 4 stops for fuel, and one subway sandwich. Left 80 degrees and disney area at 10am, was in jersey and 32 degrees by 10pm, brooklyn by 11:30pm!
average speed on the trip computer door to door: 84mph, average mpg 17.
I discovered a steady 100mph is about 14mpg and WOT from 100 up shows 6mpg.
Drove either at 85 or 100 depending on traffic with one brief but memorable visit to 150. Dodged 3 radar traps, and 3 un-marked cruisers in the carolinas including one good ole boy who probably spent 10 minutes trying to decide whether it was worth pulling me over for taking him at 75 in a 70 zone (i'd already seen some tell-tale gadgets handing down inside his car).
embarassed a (loud) mustang, a couple of large mercs around washington, and sundry others. I didn't have any scares, it felt like the brakes can take you from 100 to 55 every few minutes all day long. Mostly other people drove ok, although once you get to jersey all bets are off. A couple of crazies were trying to maintain 110 on the turnpike with weaving.
Traffic (and big rigs) were constant but moving fast, the smoothest roads were in the carolinas. Hitting the washington area after 9pm was an accidental blessing traffic wise.
I normally find it difficult to keep my eyes open on trips over 3 hours but for some reason that doesn't happen with this car. I could have gone another few hundred miles!
