I am trying to understand why my 11/03 enhanced exhaust protrudes a few inches past the black oval valences while others I have seen are perfectly even with it.. I have tried to have them pushed back but tech says they're as far back as possible. IMO it looks way cooler flush with it. Thinking it may have something to do with build dates. ie later cars had this while earlier ones didnt, which would mean they changed it for some reason. So, whats yours?

I am inside the car...so really could give a rip whether they change or not. Seems to me they look good either way.
...so much so that I'm off to a local dealer (not an Audi dealer) this afternoon to look at a mirror image of yours that just came in on trade (under 8k miles).
I guess I'm a glutton for punishment and just can't get enough of hearing that my car's worth less than $20k, even as I'm trying to secure a $70k-ish version of the same car (sorta) with a similarly declining resale curve!
I figure I'm gonna tell the stealer right off: "I really wanted a red one, but I'll give you $43k and my car," and let him come back to me after a month or so of trying to move the RS6. (As you probably know, there are at least seven such cars on the block locally, and most appear to be gathering a fair amount of dust at anything over $67k.)
Oh well, I must fill my days somehow!

Good luck with the negotiations, I'm sure with your tenacity and patience you'll eventually get the deal you want. And go for another test drive, I think part of the reason you were a bit turned off last time is because your test drive was in below freezing temps; the ride can get pretty harsh in Winter but is much more compliant in moderate temps.
Regarding resale curve, I have long since resigned myself to the fact that my tastes are decidedly fringe--hell, I even laugh at YOUR jokes--and nothing I own will ever be of worth to someone else. Besides, you can always console yourself in knowing the bath the guy who traded it at 8K must have took.

the outermost valence between the tips, but from a side view they extend about 1.5 inches, when cool. I want twin tips anyway - any ideas out there?
