Until the next generation RS6, that is, which is expected around 2006-2007. Maybe someone else can be more specific. But the current generation RS6s are done for the US; what's here is all we get, due to smog rule changes starting 1-1-04.

Unless, of course, something has changed that I don't know about. But that was the plan and, last I heard, the reality too...in the US.

The new RS6 will have a twin turbocharged DOHC 32V 4.2L V8 with direct fuel injection producing 500-550 hp and 470-500 lbs/ft of torque. No twin turbocharged V10 for the new RS6. A twin turbocharged V10 is cost prohibitive for a car like the new RS6. There are a cornucopia of other reasons as to why the new RS6 will have a twin turbocharged V8 instead of a twin turbocharged V10. But there is no room to list all of those other reasons in this message.

all engines throughout the lineup will have 4V per cylinder instead of 5V per cylinder. The cylinders with DFI are too small for 5V heads. In addition, with 4V heads, the ability to meet, exceed or far exceed all of the most stringent ever by far US emissions standards from 2005 onward will be significantly easier, regardless of output or any other engine specifications.

You asked, "hold back?" I presume you were asking whether to get an RS6 now or wait "til summer when the 05's are inbound."

But if you're talking about "05 model year in general," not for an RS6, then what would you be waiting for? Everything that comes out as an 05? Just Audis? Or what?

I'd like to help but it's difficult because this is about the RS6 compared to ... what? Need to know what the what is before I can comment.

I feel a little dumb for not figuring that out, but at least it makes sense. Thanks again!
