View Full Version : Guess my dealer only sold 13 of the 15 RS6's they received. 2tuŽbos1mission 12-27-2003, 09:58 PM This is on their home page:

http://www.fredbakerporscheaudi.com/popup/rs6.html</a

RS6.com 12-29-2003, 04:06 AM Please answer avdh 12-29-2003, 05:08 AM srosie 12-29-2003, 05:36 AM FlyingWombat 12-29-2003, 06:31 AM Lots of people wish they had one. If they can't afford it it is easier for their ego to say "It's a piece of crap". As the man who only made it half way up Everest said "The view from the top is obscured by clouds. Why would you want to go to the top?". ICONCLS 12-29-2003, 06:33 AM that way it's easy to be the alpha Audi dog. It's odd when a guy in a SL55 AMG almost wet himself at the sight of my car this weekend--he gushed so much, it was actually a little awkward--but other fellow Audi "enthusiasts" seem like they would have been more content if it had stayed across the pond. When these post come up, I'm more stunned by the fact that they sold 13 than anything else. I would have never imagined, say 8 mos. ago, it would have been as successful as it has! I also think AoA and the dealers got a little greedy and overestimated demand by a 100 or so, which they will pay for. Ultimately, I love the car and couldn't care less if the last few go below MSRP. Life is good. Ming 2.7T 12-29-2003, 10:37 AM I want to pick one up in 2-3 years, when it comes into my price range. Would love to have one, but I have others things that are priority right now. Maybe when they get into the 60's or even high 50's I can then, think about getting one. Gotta save up for my kid to go to college first : ) John Stahmann 12-29-2003, 02:00 PM RS6FEVER 12-29-2003, 02:23 PM Here Here! The feeling I still get driving this machine is like no other! The driving, hearing, and seeing experience of the RS6 is the closest I've been to true auto excitement and inanimate coveting. While AoA got greedy, those of us lucky enough to drive these beasts know that Audi really "did us right" with this model. Yeah, we're gonna take a depreciation/value hit, but in my mind, when it comes to automobiles, I'll take this check! All I can say is keep em coming AoA. nikhil 12-29-2003, 03:42 PM but given the fact that dealers(such as the one linked to in the post) wanted non-refundable deposits of ~5k for "a spot" in line, its amusing that they still have cars available. it's an amazing car, and i think posts are directed more at the dealers' practices than at the car. Ming 2.7T 12-30-2003, 12:08 PM jatwrite 01-01-2004, 05:39 PM During 2nd dealer visit for ongoing performance issues (the first one took 5 days while waiting for SPARK PLUGS!), a new problem was discovered: the serpentine belt is splitting in half. It's under the engine, connected to the AC compressor clutch at one end, and that clutch appears to be damaged too. Car deemed not driveable by dealer. Cause: unknown. Solution: wait for the AC compressor clutch to arrive on a BOAT from Germany! Of course this was unacceptable, so I called AoA and complained about bringing an $82K car to the US without parts to back it up. I suggested that since there are plenty of unsold RS6s at dealerships, maybe they could get a part from one of them; the AoA owner advocate I spoke to agreed to ask about that. So, maybe there's hope things will be fixed soon. I have 14K miles, more than most US cars, so maybe that helps explain it. Still, prior dealer visits have been needed for Onstar backup battery (twice now for that one), replace radiator due to leak, factory paint blemish on hood, and some others I can't recall right now. Point being that even with 14K miles, the list is too long ... the problems seem to be getting more serious ... and the waiting time for parts (if indeed I end up waiting for a boat from Germany) is clearly beyond reasonable or acceptable. Someone suggested that because of the low volume, "dealers can't afford to stock up on parts." Maybe so, but hasn't AoA or VW heard of a central warehouse or regional warehouses? Can it be so expensive to store parts in the US which presumably are being stored in Germany anyway? John Stahmann 01-07-2004, 12:31 PM |
