Hi, does anyone have the factory Recaros in an RS6? If so do you like them? I have seen the new S4 and like those but have not seen a RS6 in person with Recaros.

View Full Version : Recaros audis4bachelor 11-24-2003, 05:02 AM Hi, does anyone have the factory Recaros in an RS6? If so do you like them? I have seen the new S4 and like those but have not seen a RS6 in person with Recaros. TheBrit 11-24-2003, 05:19 AM Over here in the UK we get the Recaro seats as standard, but they're not the same as the ones in the new S4. The RS 6 seats are a little wider and don't quite grip you when cornering quite as much (unless you're a little bit wider as well!) IMHO, they're good seats but they have been slightly ruined by cheap implementation - the height adjust only lifts the entire seat base and I find that at low heights (I'm a little over 6') the seat base isn't titlted far enough back to provide thigh support. The extending thigh supports aren't a lot of use fully out because they aren't high enough to support properly, but pulled out only half way, they do offer a bit more support at the expense of putting quite a bit of pressure on the backs of the tops of the thighs. Again IMHO, the seats in the S8 (designed by Recaro) where better because the height of the seat base at the front and rear could be adjusted individually, so you could ensure the thigh support was usable however far out it was pulled. Oh, and the new A8 12-way seats are nice. I've only tried the standard and comfort seats (briefly), but the sports ones look just as adjustable. audis4bachelor 11-24-2003, 05:48 AM I am looking at the recaros that are in the rs6 that are electronic fully ajustable. I have never sta in them, but I have sat in the new S4 Recaros and I loved them. Is there that big of a difference between the two? TheBrit 11-24-2003, 07:41 AM against 12 months in the RS 6. Most people might get on just fine with the RS 6 Recaros, but I like to sit with the seat base quite low, back upright (to get a good firm grip on the steering wheel for those "interesting" roads!), and as a result I end up quite near to the pedal box as well. The RS 6 just doesn't provide as much thigh support as I'd be truly happy with. I didn't notice any such problem in the S4, but that may have been because I was too busy having the new car experience? CarbonFibre 11-24-2003, 03:28 PM Tornado //S6 11-24-2003, 10:21 PM |
