On Thursday I had PaintShield, a 3M clear plastic, applied to my hood for protection. This was near Detroit. Friday I left for a 5-day trip and discovered the hood tongue/lever did not emerge -- so I could "pop" the hood but not open it. This was 300 miles from home and on a Friday afternoon, of course. It must have happened when the PaintShield guy took apart the grille and hood latch mechanism & then replaced them, for the 3M app.

Anyhow, I called ahead to Tom Wood Audi, had trouble finding the place, got additional directions from various staff by phone, rolled in around 5:15 (they close at 5:30) and had beaucoup help from a small crowd for about 30-40 minutes. Never a hint from them of my being a pain in the arse for showing up just before closing; nor did anyone complain or sound condescending about my repeated calls for directions. No charge, either, even tho it was not an Audi malfunction.
