View Full Version : About the RS6's "stealth"

Boy, that's not my experience!

I expected absolutely no attention while driving my RS6. It has been exactly the opposite for me. Invariably, guys rush over to talk to me about the car. On the highway, I'm continually getting the thumbs up from other drivers (or being challenged by ricers and BMWs). While I was parking the other day, even a cop stopped to talk about the car.

I get far more attention in the RS6 than in my p-cars - not what I expected (nor did I want).

What's your experience?

I think the Avus Silver has a lot to do with it.

I got lots of thumbs-up, guys asking about the car, etc. during a 6000 mile trip from MI to CA and back. Yesterday, when I joined about 90 other Audis and VWs at a Detroit meet with no other RS6s, I was greeted as if I was the Pope!

Right now the RS6 is the focus of a lot of attention because a) it's new, and b) it got a lot of favorable write-ups in car mags, as it should. But neither of those will be a factor a year from now, I suspect.

Just be glad you don't own something more exotic. With the RS6, most of the attention is coming from enthusiasts who know what it is; in the 70s, when I owned a Lotus Elite, at times it seemed like EVERYONE was gawking -- and no one talking.

I get a lot of people racing to catch up or whipping u-turns and then flying up to me.... followed by the disappointment - "oh man, we thought that was an RS6."

Happens at least once a week in Bklyn.

Silver mellows the fender flare impact, the brushed mirrors almost blend in with the body color and the grill change is pretty subtle from the front. But if they hear it, that's a different matter, but usually by then, I'm long gone ;-)

but I wouldn't trade anything about the car to get it.

Hey, change the wheels, and remove the RS6 badges and drive slowly, and you'll disapear into the crowd of A6 4.2s LOL

Humm, interesting thread. I have driven about 1k miles on my car so far (only two weeks old). I have had a few people stop and ask, including a detroit police officer. However most people do not really notice the car. The car guys do, the ricers do, and most sport sedan owners (E55, S-type R, M5) and also the p-car owners seem to notice. Outside of that, I have had mostly a stealth experience (except for an idiot in a modified 328i, sheesh).
