View Full Version : My RS6 is apparently on the boat

Just got the call today and the micro-site is showing it at milestone 6. My salesperson's best guess is that it will be here in early November. So, now I just have to get over a few issues:

1. Since ordering the RS6 (over a year ago) I've moved to an area where the closest Audi dealer is about an hour-and-a-half away.

2. A 2001 996TT can be had for about the same price as the RS6 and won't depreciate nearly as much after sale and I already have a relationship with my local Porsche dealer.

3. I've started my own business and, for the moment, I'm still working out of my home, so I don't really need a car at the moment. The driveway and garage are already full with a Cayenne, Honda Odyssey and a 23' boat.

So, I have a few weeks to decide if I want this beast or if I should give it a miss. Anyone have any advice?

at about the same juncture.
After taking delivery of the RS6 I can say that I made the right decision.
Even though I don't put many miles on it (1,005 since 8/7) I enjoy every one. The car is that good.

there are a lot of years of fine tuning in there and it shows. It has been my most trouble-free Audi to date.

2. True, either you want arguably one of the best sports cars OR one of the best sports sedans.

3. Need has NOTHIN' to do with it! ;-)

You really can't be ambivalent about an RS 6 purchase, it's just too much dough for that.

I had a '01 996tt and it was a wonderful car. With a 6 speed it is even faster than the RS6 and the 996tt's handling, balance and grip are without equal.
But it is really a two seater. And 996tt (all 996's) are depreciating like few Porsches before them. Next year the 997 and 997tt's will be out and that will kill re-sale even more. If you lease the RS6, it'll be Audi's problem if the resale drops unexpectedly.

Do you need a 2 seater or a 5 seater? (Or neither?)

If my sales person was correct. I'm looking at end of this month or 1st week in nov.

Get the car... :-) You only live once.

I'm completely ignorant regarding car leases. I've always bought my cars outright and paid cash. What would be a good (and fair) deal on the RS6?

Same exact thought I had. Too bad I haven't driven a Turbo or an RS6 yet.
