Lemme throw some questions since it's so quiet here...

What oil are you using in substitute of the recommended VW 505.01 5w-40?

The warranty won't allow a substitution to that spec.
If you're looking into brands there is a list that was distributed on RS6.com that must have had at least 20 different brands world wide that meet the spec.
I'll try and dig it up.
I know the US cars have been coming with different brands in the trunk.
Mine was Castrol.
