View Full Version : I'll post some actual content - question regarding Hyperboost DVs

So, if I wanted to swap out the stock DVs (theoretical Q as I have no plans at the moment) for aftermarkets like Hyperboosts or something, do I have to buy DVs designed specifically for the RS 6? Will other DVs have a different release pressure etc?

I know very little about boost control systems - edumacate me please!

If I remember they wrote about using the same DVs that they use in the S4's early on.
I would assume they went off the part number of the stock unit in our car.

you get more boost and hold it longer while removing the reliability issue from the equation.

Sounds like Viagra for your car. It's all good.

So when you ease off the throttle, the boost built up is recirculated rather than vented. Aftermarket DVs promise better retention of boost and faster closing once they have vented - this all is claimed to help provide a sharper throttle response. The reliability issue comes from the diaphrams (sp?) of the stock Bosch valves rupturing and leaking boost.

The RS6 comes with the same bosch d/v's that are packed in S4's, 911 TT's and most other turbo models.

The problem:
Plastic construction
Vacume nipple tends to break off after awhile. It gets hot under there and tends to weaken the plastic over time. Internally it is a rubber based diaphram. The rubber becomes plyable and tends to tear. Doesn't always open cleanly either.

Hyperboost D/V: All alluminum ( I know I can't spell) spring loaded piston driven and serviceable. We have sold over 500 of these and have not had one failure. A4 S4 TT GTI Jetta, doesn't matter what model, they all can use the same valve. Throttle response is improved pending application and is cheap piece of mind. We run them in our 530hp RS6 with no issues. Install is more of a pain than the s4 but is well worth it and a drop in the bucket all things considered. I will ship them anywhere in the US. Available in black, chrome or glass blasted. Email me with you zipcode and I will give you a total.

1 pr. of Hyperboost Valves: $280 + shipping.

off power
clutch
shift
de-clucth
on power

before the bpv upgrade, it seemed that I need to feed more throttle to keep there from being a slight "jerk" between gears, especially 1-2 and 2-3.

I would think on an auto trans car, it would smooth shifting out also

My screen-name should give you a clue as to why! I do appreciate the info though.

more importantly, some have traced bad bpv's as contributing to turbo failure
