and worked my way up to 320 grit. Just did my original lapping of IM top/bottom halves. It's far far worse than I thought. I'm not saying this is definately the cause of my or any leaks but it's FAR from right or optimum for gasket sealing!!
Gonna take awhile to lap this "flat" with 320 grit but it's what I've got so I'll make do. But I'm gonna run a LOT of circular laps on my lapping surface to get all the black magic marker off. And I'll have to re gasket-match upper/lower halves once done.
Boy! If this IM is typical of 12V IMs, my not making this part of the IM Workshop was a MAJOR error in judgement on my part!
While I'm not convinced this is cause for leakage it's DEFINATELY cause for concern and at the very least a "contributing factor" and I'm more optimistic I'm now on the right track!
