speeds. i was immensely impressed with how smooth it was up over 100, granted my exhaust is stock. my gut tells me that the 4" i.d. velocity stack on the airbox rocks when you get up to speed. i wasnt so sure about the ability of the car over 100, but it picks up well. wait, im incriminating myself by admitting that i was driving over 100, ... right?? anyway, i was chasing an a4 on I5 last night for about 45 minutes. i nosed him into a couple of turns on the freeway at over a hundy. he was completely stock with the tires and suspension, so it was prolly a bit scary for him.
anyway, just a shout out to the 12v and its smoothness in three-digit speeds................................

just because he has the stock suspension doesn't mean he can't take corners fast.
depending on the driver, you can take corners faster with the stock suspension. it allows the tires to stay in contact with the road more, instead of trying to pry them off the ground when you have stiff suspension.
i can take corners really good. and they aren't scary at all. and i was driving a stocked suspensioned A4. i am installing vogtland coilovers at the moment though.

as far as cornering abilities and smoothness. im no expert, but my car feels like its on rails now when i hit turns...

at speeds over 100MPH!?! Allowing sufficient distance dictates the lead car's suspension would be very difficult if not altogether impossible to determine with any certainty and at night... in the dark! And factory "sport suspension" on an A4 is many things but "rare" isn't among them. Plus the B5 platform front suspension is far more sophisticated/refined than the B4 front suspension at the ragged edge but the additional complexity comes at a price.
And I'm of the mindset when things get a bit scarey I just add less go-pedal. Sounds like the A4 guy was perfectly comfortable from where I sit. He may not have all the handling he'd like but he had enough to stay out front, not let off and just maintain his speed and lead. That alone kinda removes any question about who was most comfy and who was leading/following whom.
thinking I've got some vendetta against you. As I told you yesterday, this is a "public forum." You post here it's open for response from anyone, including me. And if you think I'm doing it to incite you, you're wrong. If ya just can't live with my responses you have a choice.
The story you told started out with you "chasing an Audi down I5." Now the story has you beside the same Audi "in the lights of a city for several miles." If you're gonna tell only "part" of the story it's no one's fault but your own if someone comments on "only" the part you've told and not the part you left out.
But I have said NOTHING to you that is in ANY way inappropriate, offensive or combative. Get past this old "I'm not gonna let you hold me down" kinda crap you're obsessed with.
and as you should be well aware by now that is a flagrant TOU violation. I was commenting on your post. You are commenting on my character and personality. Mine is allowable and within the rules as they exist today... yours is not.

It needed a rotate and balance (stock rims & equivelant tires) so it shook a little between 85 and 110. But once I got the balance and rotate done, it was all smooth sailing.
On my local "test track" I4 I have only gotten up to 115mph. But very impressed on how smooth it feels, and how much pull I get in 5th gear. I am used to driving cars that way over drive 5th so you are forced to stay in 4th.
