I currently have a large bore MAF, and a small bore as an 'extra' sitting in my garage. I learned that the 471A is the one that mance modifiess, and that code corresponds to my small bore MAF.

Just curious.

digit alpha-numeric. Especially when there are two entirely and totally different Audi MAFs that share the same last 4 digit nomenclature. And neither of those MAFs share a single swappable part between them.

1. Early model small-bore MAF: 054 133 471A (not suitable for large-bore conversion and totally different electronics than the below MAF).

2. Late model large-bore MAF: 078 133 471A are the "only" Audi MAFs I machine.

We all, myself totally included, should probably start referring to the 471A MAFs as either the 054/471A or the 078/471A. This has come up several times over the years and it's easy to understand how/why someone could conceivably spend a LOT of time going down a dead-end road by discovering too late they bored-out the ENTIRELY wrong MAF!

From what i have read, The small bore is mostly good for a modification into a Cone adaptor.

to the large bore MAF? and change the four wires to the 3 wire configuration?
