I imagine theres much more room on your B4?

There is significantly more room in a C4's engine bay. I can't wait to see this....

.. so everything will be taken out. The main difference is the downpipe angle. The B4's have almost a straight down angle while the b5's are more sloping. Nothing a little cutting and welding won't fix. There is also the wheel well which IS very close on the passenger side, but I am willing to make this work. They won't be on there for a while so a plan will definitely be drawn up.

I just finished cleaning up my garage this weekend, all ready to tear this baby apart on the bench. Plenty of room for storage and workspace now :o)

still debating on whether or not I'm going to install them.

You can technically do the headers w/o pulling the heads, but I'm worried about unbolting the existing ones and snapping off exhaust studs in the heads, etc etc. Also I'd need to redo my exhaust and a bunch of other stuff... so not sure what I'm doing with them.

i'm sure if I got an offer I couldn't refuse I might let 'em go, but who knows...

mind me asking how much you bought 'em for?

a pair of equal-length, stainless steel headers with low cell-count spiral-wrapped, exceedingly high-flow cats. Even better when ALL joints in exhaust are quick-disconnect stainless band-clamps and any or every part of the exhaust, including cats, 4.2l V8 center resonator and/or rear muffler can be swapped out individually or collectively for straight pipes in the paddock in under 20 minutes!

To this day it remains the gift "most" rare.

They also look very similar. Did you have fitment problems??

I like the idea of the quick disconnect, but I don't think that fits my budget ><

Why do you use the v8 center resonator? I remember you saying that the stock can flow up to 350hp or so. Also how does the car sound with the v8 rear muffler? Is it "stock with grunt" loud? I had a straight piped exhaust with a magnaflow rear muffler but it sounded terrible and I reverted back to stock.

Thanks

the ends and re-welding. Mine may be a little easier to align since there's no 3-bolt flanges to deal with and I can move my band clamps up/down and I won't have any of the ABS hardware to contend with or work around.

I've already posted reasons on the V8 resonator. Please follow link below.

V8 resonator

and I'm not completely convinced these arent the ones I saw in the pic. These were VERY expensive for their era when new hovering at/near $2,300 a pair price point. There were a handful of unequal-length header sets floating around at about half the equal-length price, made by the same person but probably 3 or fewer pair all-told that ever made their presence known at this and all other similar forums.

I've never once seen or heard of another equal-length pair for the 12V being offered for sale before I bought these or since.

I once contacted Stasis about making me a pair like the author of this thread got. They wanted $4,400 a pair and they were made from mild steel rather than stainless. Longevity wasn't a concern for Stasis as they had headers pre-made and lying around they could swap-out whenever needed.

The ones Stasis are selling now "may" likely be the closest anyone will ever get to the TDL stainless/equal-length pair in my post. It was the rareness I mention here that was the sole motivation in my writing the post you responded to. And if another pair showed up for sale or at auction and I knew about it, it's safe to presume I'd be vigorouly bidding on them since all my local estimates have shown a near $6k price tag to have my pair duplicated.

Given all this you're not the only one that will likely NEVER find another pair identical to these. I won't either and that's why these are SOOO special/rare and I'm entirely privelaged to have them.

he was selling. He mentioned that he had a pair of Lebree (think thats right?) headders, but didnt want to sell them. Apparently a friend from CA hooked him up for like $400. Whats the deal with these? or was he blowing smoke out his ass? needles to say he never contacted me about the parts we discussed to begin with, but I am curious about the headers.

With that said, would it be so difficult to aquire some 12V manifolds from a yard to use the flanges and fab up a set of headders for myself. Obviously not able to garantee a flow matching yours or the likes, but to achieve a performance upgrade nonetheless?
