I havent benn able to drive my car in 2 weeks except once, and the yesterday i decided to take it out for a spin everything was going as normal untill i hit 3rd gear at 3500 rpm it started to bog and sound like a misfire, and it shook like crazy, and sounded terrible. the weird thing is if i shut it off and then just kept it in neutral and reved, it seemed normal, only seems like this is happenng when the motor is under load, i was hoping you guys here on AW would be able to help bc this is the only forum with so much 12v knowledge, thanks in advance guys

a stupid helping question, did you change your petrol filter, check that, I got the same thing only not so harsh after the filter change wham it was all gone 2 weeks now

The petrol filter in the engine bay on the left side of the engine the big black one or maby you have a silver one, with a steel pile at either side

I thought the fuel filter was back by the fuel tank just in front of it on the passenger side?

Older VW's had them in the back, and in the case of the MKII Golf and Jetta it was located just in front of the trailing arm on the passenger side.

It was a real PITA to replace the filter.
