Both have a VS, The Big Mouth filters VS isnt quite as aggressive as the Akimoto. The Akimoto is a lot lighter then The Big Mouth filter too. So I am a little bias towards a Akimoto filter. Neither filter is cheap but worth the price. I would bet if you installed that $12 filter then one of the above two you would feel the difference. If you will be auto crossing why dont you just keep the stock air box? In my experiences I have spend about $400 on cone upgrades and finally switched back to the box. The cone has a better sound but the box is better insulated and flows just as much if not better if modified properly.

Just saying I prefer the quite and stock look :)

Mine is a one-off, built like no other, with a custom MAF adapter, mated to a bored out larger MAF. Plus my engine mods work better with this cone, than my OEM airbox did. To date I have not found the need for a heat-shield. While others will say thats crazy, my engine says otherwise. ;O)

I had mine pretty far from the valve cover almost right behind the turn signal. Where the Miktip mod was done :)

I use to go to an even every weekend however and thats where I caught the stop and go traffic. I live in PA lol. Bigest traffic drama here is the Amish and farmers.

I was just going to use the VS for the airbox mod! This looks like a cheap way to do it, although I haven't shopped around at pricing locally.
