This question was raised a lot before Audi combined the Bose upgrade option with the CD changer option. I would strongly prefer to forego the Bose (believing it's overrated and that the stock speakers sound great), and install an aftermarket CD changer in the trunk. Can this only be done through an Audi dealer, or can a good stereo shop also handle? Any mods needed?
All responses greatly appreciated.
it can be done..but, your dealer will take your left arm for the Audi OEM CD changer.
You can go with Clair Motors (check their ad banners on this site) and get the OEM CD changer for half of what your dealer will charge you. DIY - it's cheaper!
Cris
An aftermarket changer is very difficult to match to the concert radio since the radio controls the changer and they have some funky wiring and control connections. Clair parts sells the OEM Panasonic for $265. That's in line with aftermarket prices. Of course you could get an FM modulated unit. There is gobs of stuff in the archives on this
