I haven't installed it yet, not to mention I don't have the 3" hose to get from it's outlet to the airbox. I will be trying it again, methinks, 'cause my mold sucked. Well, the mold was fine, but I had to use a plastic garbage bag to be my "release agent." So, it didn't form extremely well. The inside is very relieved (think: relief, mountainous). It should all grind pretty smooth, but it's more work than it SHOULD be.
I'm still on my laptop, so I'll have to install my camera's software and upload some pics in a little while. Remember, it's not installed yet, or painted for that matter, but I'll show you how I made it. It's actually pretty funny.

This is my first time ever working with fiberglass and used about twice as much resin as I needed to.

And look at the size of this spider that was in my room. He got away from me 3 or 4 days before this. He enjoyed the Charmin Ultra death bed that I got for him, though...

I suffer from arachnophobia! Only silverfish are worse than spiders!
Turned out well for a first-time project, I guess?
we once dipped one of those in epoxy resin. It made a nice paper weight!
Then we had it fight a scorpion. Poor camel spider didnt win.

camel spiders chase you. They know your shadow is cooler, and therefore "chase" you.

First jumping spiders, then giant spiders, and now tracking spiders!

Actually, I'm serious about that.

to stomp the tracking spiders with obviously ;) Of course, I'd think those would make one helluva mess afterwards ;) The dipping in epoxy resin was a much more amusing way to kill it... or the scorpion fight =P

I'd move the funnel over one space and see if there's room to keep the light and run the tubing =P
Of course, this is coming from the guy that rigged up his own 10 way adjustable mounts for the factory fogs to mount in his '96 bumper ;) I ain't losing those puppies for anything!
Looks nice there pete! Good work... and make sure you avoid the fangs on that spider... looks nasty!

and they have no interest in human interaction, but because they do seek out the cooler temps of shadows, they've been known to "chase" people (as Jestnomen said). They're called Camel Spiders b/c they were incorrectly rumored to jump on the bellies of camels and lay their eggs inside them. Totally false. They do move pretty quickly and often challenge and eat scorpions and other large insects. Never heard of them eating a rat but it doesn't surprise me.
I used a plastic garbage bag as my "release agent" and the cloth was not staying formed really well... so I'll do it again (maybe today) and see how it goes.

also, why not make it removable like the grill? THen you could have your cake and eat it too. Like leave enough slack in the line so that you could pull the entire setup out without unhooking anything if the situation ever arises that you need the tow hook. That would enable you not to have to mess around with integrating anything, and only make a funnel that will snap in and out in the rare necessity that you would need a tow hook.
just a thought.

That all *can* be done, but then I'd have to make the air collector easily removable. The one I made last week screws in to the stock foglamp mounting holes. I am really not sure if I like this foglamp one, thugh, 'cause I really like the way my car looks with foglamps. So maybe I'll see if I can separate the tow hook. IIRC, the place where the towhook mounts to is kinda in the way and the air would have to make a really quick 90º turn as soon as it hit my bumper just to avoid that mounting spot for the towhook. Also IIRC, I have about 3.5" square in there. Needless to say that this setup would not be as effective as the current one just due to the smaller opening, the 90º turn, and a lot longer piping to accomodate it all. Thanks for the suggestions though and keep 'em coming; I'll go out and see how it might come together.
