that's not too bad of a deal! Kinda like the S2 kit up to the plenum with cone filter, etc.

what's the dia of that tubing from the CAI to the plenum?

unless they have a ram air setup hidden for the future.

Cool idea though, and if ya think about it a decent price. Heat shield included? If so, that's 10 times better than the lltek one that goes for $250, and that I unfortunately bought :( But I still smile everytime I hit the gas and wind the car out... it sounds sooooo good and NEVER gets old ;)

become available again?

my old man just handed me a few hundred $'s and I want to get my intake tract finished off.... so that means S3 MAF & Hoses w/machined breather sleave et. al.

I didn't clue in as to whether you were taking pre-payments/orders or not, or what the deal was. Hopefully I'm not last on the list =( , cause having a wonkey intake with some sections being restricted & others not is playing havoc on my performance

be kind, please rewind

check yah later

that hot, ive been running the cf intake for awhile now and the intake itself is not hot nor the piping. i just posted up here to see if anyone would be interested in the intakes, i sold a few and people are happy with results, but im not a factroy guy like urs4 hehe

either way, thanks for any interests people might of had! just trying to spread the wealth around, ya know

its not that restrictive as you might think, the intake does suck in a lot of air, the way it was made was that the funnel black thing gives it air, so it always sucks air. It has been lowered so it gets both that air and the air from the ground.

all that comes to mind for me is the post that URs4 made regarding the open distance a cone filter should have in order to flow properly. IIRC it was discovered with a cone filter, a flow bench and a can of wd40 that was sitting too close to the filter.
the aluminum tube aint bad tho.

same with the valve covers. My infrared heat gun showed both to be constantly at/near 150F. Admittedly you may have a higher tolerance to pain than I do. But something about air flowing thru a 150F thin-wall aluminum tube is not my idea of running cool/dense charge air.

it hasnt been that hot, but hey, ur the expert here i assume lol. but whatever im just trying to see if people need it, not so people can bash proudcts that are out there.

but like Shady12v said, UrS4 had done some flow tests on cone filters and found that they need a larger open space to pull air from to be 'fully' effective.

As for the heat issue, I back away from this one. I know it's hot under the hood but other than that, I don't know how hot ;) All I know is that I try to cram more air into my air cavity where my filter is to keep it cooler than the rest of the bay. I'm guessing that the CF shell is used as a heat shield yes? To be honest with ya, if this kit were around 2 years ago when I put my lltek system in, I probably woulda gone this route and made a custom heat shield.

Plus its just common sense that thin wall metal tubing would get hot due to ambient, radiated and migrated heat. I havent uttered a single syllable about your air filters but rather only the metal tubing. You say you don't think it gets that hot. I'm telling you it hovers at/near 150F. You're guessing even tho we both know there are no cool surfaces under the raised hood. I'm using an infra red laser pointing heat gun. That doesnt make me an expert but it does lend more credibility than your statement of "it doesnt get that hot." You say you're pulling ground air in by pointing the filter downward as if the exhaust manifold isnt heating any/all air that gets past it from the ground. Why do you think stock air boxes also pull from that same exact area when its cold outside? Because thats where the hot air is!! Or that no heat radiates into the metal tube from the valve covers. I'm saying thats just not true. Even my silicone kits whether S2/S3 also get hot. But they offer some insulating due to wall thickness and multiple layering of Nomex (fire retardent) and silicone windings. The surface of the silicone hovers near the same temp as your aluminum tube when the car is running. But it's about 1800% more effective at keeping that heat out of the air running thru it's opening. None of this makes any value statement whatever about the filters you're selling.

I can post pics of a red laser dot on any surface under the hood with the heat guns temp screen showing what the surface temp under that red laser dot is. That doesnt make me an expert and its not bashing your product. It's simply confirming the facts. I cant help that it might also dispell your myths.

take orders + payments from that point on?

VAP

so there's no chance of someone wanting one now then not getting one whenever this order gets here. I have 6 people wanting them right now and 96 elbows (enough to complete 48 S3 kits) to order when they complete their contract. Additionally I have 50 recovery sleeves pre-made and ready-to-go with hose barbs installed with over 300 ABA hose clamps and enough breather line quick-disconnects to make 20+ S3 kits and sufficient 3" silicone hose to make maybe 100 kits. All I need is the elbows. If I take money up-front then people tend to be a little more agressive and concerned about their hard-earned cash.

When I know everyone will know.
