Ok, well I'm not really new. I signed up sometime last year, but this is my first post. (I'm so proud! LOL) I browsed the various posts about performance improvements for my engine and it seems you all are WAY ahead of me! I own a '93 90CS Quattro Sport (built June 92) with the cool options that were deleted just a few months later - i.e. ABS switch, elmwood inlays, sport gauge package. I have not done any modifications other than putting on better tires (Dunlop SP5000's), so I'm starting from scratch. Any suggestions?

No seriously....I hate that sh$t! I'm going for uber-sleeper if you know what I mean. Just want to know what you guys have found that works and what I should stay away from.

(or something).
The early build you have means you've got the 4-wire MAF, so you won't be able to use the upgraded MAF on abnormallyaspirated.com - however there is other effort on that front so definitely wander through the list and look for posts such as:

Then the big questions are what sort of time, money, and effort do you want to put in? That will have a big impact on what you end up with.

Oh, he forgot those wheels that keep turning when the car stops :)
Seriously, you won't see much rice (kraut?) on this board; I'm sure Greg was just kidding. Either that, or he's been huffing freon again :)

let's just say the engineering of their products was pretty poor.

If you drive much at night, you NEED euro lights and relays to go with the power. You won't believe the difference.

I personally didn't feel a need to post any pictures of my car until it started looking different than stock photos.

I also have the 4 wire MAF, and i only changed the maf part (housing?) - u just have to open the 2 screws and change the sensor.
Then its possible to use the "big" maf.
I would suggest to take a good camshaft and update the ecu - or take some urs4 mods.
Bigger mods ( supercharged - turbo engine ) needs a lot of cash ( i know what im talking about :-/ ).

You cannot update the ECU in the USA (well possibly the mms200 only, but not to any real benefit.) You cannot use the Abnormally Aspirated MAF on a mms200 (4wire) car, only the earlier non-A large bore unit (I've done it, too.) The AAH 12v engines, like the one we are talking about, came stock with a camshaft that is a VERY good mix of usable low-end torque and decent high-end. Eliott was 100% right, he knows more about these engines than anyone.
Alot of these things are different over there.

Huh ... I was under the impression that the 4-wire MAF would not fit in Mance's modified housing. Didn't someone else have this same issue recently? I thought someone was making a separate mod for those MAF bodies.
As far as ECU upgrades go, I've never met or talked to anyone who was pleased with the upgraded MMS200 ECU (a quick glance through saved e-mails comes up with 16 negative reviews though); I wouldn't recommend going that route.
