View Full Version : What kind of exhausts are you all running? BVRN_RKT_94_90 04-26-2004, 07:24 AM Im debating between Stebro or Supersprint. Pics or anything will help. Thanks! Mr.D-'97 A4q 12v 04-26-2004, 07:41 AM canta4dit 04-26-2004, 07:44 AM alot of the guys here have done custom exhaust with magnaflow cats and mufflers, some have even custom fab'd "Y" pipes to use only 1 cat. I looked at stebro for a long time but ended up going with brullen from lltek, primarily because I heard good things about it and i got a great deal(they were running a special). Stebro seems like a soild exhaust system but noone on here is running it, as a matter of fact i couldnt find anyone in the entire forum with it. But just based on the fact that they produce systems for porsche and ferari(sp?) has to say something about them. As far as supersrpint i couldnt find a system to fit our car, make sure that they now it is a 12v. I was on the phone with stratmosphere once talking about their milltek exhaust, i pratically had the system bought until i happen to mention 12v, "oh you have a 12v?, we dont have anything foir that engine" after i had already told him that i had a 96 2.8 v6. Greg PAW 04-26-2004, 08:04 AM I noticed mine had a lot of gaps on the connecting points where the innertubing was cut at an angle o had a gap between it and the outer tubing. I thought it was a pretty good exhaust still. What shocked me is that after taking it out I noticed that where the 2 pipes merge into one one of the 2 incoming pipes seriously obstructs the other one on the inside with a bit overlap. I might just have gotten a lemon. I'd still recommend it to anyone. If yours is like mine you can always just take a dremel to it like I did. That said, I think the design of the exhaust is excellent. I've seen some exhausrs that have incredible build quality, but horrible designs when it comes to flowing (like APR, that has the in and out of the resonator on the same side of the resonatoron one of their exhausts. They use a lot of 90 and 180degree bends too). canta4dit 04-26-2004, 08:10 AM and i didnt install it either so i cant really say. But when i got it looked it over pretty thoroughly and it seemed solid, but how it all fits together i cant say. Only thing, the guy that installed it said that the hardware that lltek provided was junk, siad he wasted more time trying to find nuts and bolts than anything. Mr.D-'97 A4q 12v 04-26-2004, 08:53 AM exhaust should bolt right up to the 12v. Doesn't mean it will sound the same, though. I was thinking custom fab with a universal muffler. Any suggestions? canta4dit 04-26-2004, 01:32 PM Hokie - STI avant 04-26-2004, 02:25 PM ShadY12v 04-26-2004, 03:39 PM magnaflow y pipe, magnaflow tips, and custom 2.5" piping. I love how the brullen mufflers sound, i ordered the quiet version of their mufflers. i cant complain about a thing and would recommend upgrading exhaust just for how smooth it makes the car drive, aside from all the other obvious reasons, of course. canta4dit 04-26-2004, 04:57 PM whatever it is. ShadY12v 04-26-2004, 06:00 PM Mr.D-'97 A4q 12v 04-27-2004, 06:49 AM ShadY12v 04-27-2004, 05:12 PM here is a link to the site from which i order them, they supposedly work closely with brullen and put in the order for the mufflers, all of which are made to order. I did not get a muffler with tips attached, though i do believe it is an option (pretty pricy tips IIRC). My tips are magnaflow 3" rolled angle cut.

order brullen

Mr.D-'97 A4q 12v 04-27-2004, 07:06 PM |
