Do you want me to get an Audi dealer filter just in case your K&N suspicion is true? Respond when you have time; I know you're busy. Thanks a lot!

I'm puting my airbox back in soon and taking out the cone, obviously I need a new filter. OEM or K&N?

... the K&N filters allow the oil in the media to fly into the MAF housing and land on the heated element. This causes erratic readings and ultimtely leads to CEL and driving issues.

I have the K&N filter and something goobered-up on my car. I've got my car going into my mechanic to see why I've got stumbling and generating a long list of DTC codes. I'm wondering if I messed-up by continuing to use the K&N filter instead of the stock paper filter.

This is all still speculation.

Another side note, Mance found that the Audi Dealer filter (not OEM or aftermarket) flows just as well as the K&N panel.

they are at the very least 'suspect' and at most real. And we know there's little if any benefit associated with them. And if anyone doubts that I have a simple test for them:

Turn a brand new or used K&N panel filter flat, horizontally and pour a cup of fine sand in it's filter media. Then shake lightly back and forth as if "panning" for gold.

Now with your free hand do the same thing with any paper media filter. See which hand gets heavier, harder to hold up.

You're gonna be gape-jawed at whats been getting thru that K&N media. Shameful!!
