Of course with TB's there doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason behind the body stamped part numbers. It could be the same or it could be different. Only way to know for sure is measure the primary bore outlet with a digital caliper. For now I'll keep that number secret so as not to influence anyone's measurements.

When/if someone comes up with that magic number on a TB that has a different part number we'll know there's more than one with the same configuration. If someone has the TB with the same body stampings as mine we must presume it is the same.

and the "only" thing that dates it 96 or newer is the throttle cable setup on the TB.

It could conceivably turn out to be a cabriolet TB of 96 or newer vintage. If so thats gonna make this lil puppy damned hard to come by. There HAS to be some reason this throttle body has a larger primary outlet than all others. And while I'm grasping at straws I can't help but believe it makes sense Audi would try to make the bigger or heavier cars a bit faster to compensate for the weight disadvantage. Of course even that line of thought is pure conjecture on my part.
