[I have a supersprint exhaust so the sound is amplified]

after relatively long drives (today i drove ~100 miles) my A4 seems to sputter in idle, first, second.

today, i got home from the long drive, rested for a few minutes and went out to the supermarket. At the light, the car started to sputter really badly. The light turned green and i tried to make my way over to the right but after i shifted (second to third) it went away.

i haven't driven it more than around the block but it seems to be gone. It's done it 3 times now (all after long drives). The first time i thought i was my clutch (i'd been hard on it just before it sputtered for the first time) but the others i haven't really been rough with the clutch.

any idea folks?

(nope...no VAG--maybe i can get it done tomorrow...no check engine light. however, the car seems to feel very, very, very slow these days...i mean, more so than usual.)

You need to get under the hood and really have a serious look at everything! ;O)

a clogged cat (least likely..aftermarket cat)

spark pluggies: eh...15k on the Bosch +4..

induction (probably the most likely)

i used to have a ported tb but then went back to stock...he tells me they run an Induction kit on cars with lots of miles (113k).

so i'm gonna take it him and have him do it...hopefully it's just oil buildup along the tb (or something like that).

and check them out. I'll never again use Bosch +4 plugs. They looked horrible while the OEM NGK plugs always looked perfect. I'm sure there is a reason why Bosch does not list the +4 plugs as an option for the 12v. I hear the Beru Ultra-X plugs are great, and I will try them soon.
