Boy did I have a nice drive to work today. Everything was fine until the car warmed up and I decided to floor it. To my surprise the throttle would not come out. I shut off the car, turned it back on and the RPM came right up as if the throttle was engaged. I shut it off again and felt the gas pedal. Basically it was half way engaged and if I was to disengage it completely, it would just fall back to being half way in. I slammed on the pedal a couple of times and it came out. I drove a little longer and it seemed fine until I floored it again, which is when again it got stuck. The process repeated a couple of times and then it seemed fine. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Its -23C in Toronto so I thought that maybe the cable got frozen up some place. Has anyone else experience this?
Thanks.

It's not getting caught on the carpet or floormat, is it?

This happened to me although the throttle didn't get stuck.

I was turning a corner & punched it, & ended up going 90 mph in a 35 mph zone with moderate traffic before I got it shut down. I never found out what the deal was, but whenever it happenned, I just tapped the gas pedal & it popped back out. It only happened a few times though.

I had mine do that once, and I lubed the crap out of it, and haven't had a problem since.

I tried to jiggle the cable under hood and that seemed to help. I could not do much since the plenum was obstructing it, and its just too cold to play with it outside...

I can rev the engine up by compressing the cruise control harmonic thingy (part my french :)). So I thought that it was an ECU issue, could be wrong though...
Where exactly does the cruise control arm link to the TB?
Thanks.

pushing in the cruise control actuator then the rod did not pop off. Maybe the rod is binding up? It should slide freely through the plastic ball end on top of the throttle body. Don't have a pic but you should see what I'm talking about.

it would probably be A LOT easier if you removed the plenum.
And, yes, working in the cold sucks. :-)

pulled it lose from the TB and shot some tri-flo down the cable housing and worked the cable a bit. I dont know why it got gummed up but that helped me. Then again it might have just been a fluke.

when you have a chance, maybe some wd 40 if you want.
