You can find him on the B5 forum, and his write-up is in the tech section, I believe.

they seem really well built and application specific. Comes with a few guaruntees too. However all with a price tag over $200... betcha now the DIY looks more appetizing. You can shop around to find others of comparible quality for a few bills cheaper, but like I said IMO the B&M is top quality. Neuspeed is the other manufacturer you may want to look at. Here's a link to a '96 A4 B&M SS offered for sale by West Coast Speed (sorry, I couldn't located B&M's official website.) Good luck

1996 A4 B&M Short Shifter

available at the time I probably would have gotton that one. One nice thing about the B&M is it has 3 adjustments, 35%, 25%, and 11% reduction. The B&M can be had for around $200. The only issue (and this will go with any short shifter) is that it increases the effort required to get it into gear. Cold weather makes this worse. I have mine set on 35% and considering trying a lower reduction and see if I like it. I may also try a lighter weight tranny fluid like UrS4 recommended.

Good Luck!

A lot of 1.8t owners have disliked their UUC's due to "sloppyness", but I have liked mine--no "slop" on my shifter. Some have remedied the problem with the "zip-tie mod". I have read that 2.8 owners do not have this problem.

I have a UUC that I installed before anybody else offered short shifters for the A4--it was my first mod. I still enjoy it. The secret to enjoying a UUC is simply lubricating it properly upon install. UUC does not provide very good grease and certainly not enough grease. Once I went to the auto store got some first rate silicone grease and lube, it really shifted quite nicely without a lot of leverage loss due to the 20% reduction--only about one extra pound of force required to shift with it.

wuz lookin' for SS for the 90. But then I dug more into the BS1 short shifter (which got great reviews) and decided to hit it. Its worked very well and I'm quite impressed. On par or even better IMO than paying $100+ for a Billzcat one <----- which is the other popular option.

check yah later
