I think my small fan when you are lookin at the engine its on the left side, is not working. Is there a fuse or something that I can check cause it is an electric fan, I think. When should it kick on? Its about 10 degress up in New York and I dont think my engine should get to warm, but at idel it goes up a little.

And also with replacein the clutch fan with electric how big of a job is that? I have seen a few posts on it, and dircetions on how to do it but, could someone who is a min mechanic tackel the job?

Also I ahave done tons of work to this car in the past month, intake, exshaust, paint, rims, light (front and tail) and about every sensor on her. Is going for a chip worth the money? If so they are tough to find, but I located a few online, which is the best? If you guys dont think it is worth the money am I better off spending it on something else? Just any help would be greatly appreatied. And this forum is great thanks for all the input! I would be lost with-out it!

If so, theres a 40A mega fuse for the fan underneath the dash on the drivers side. If you unscrew to belly pan, youll see the series of fuses, its the orange one. They go often.

Oh, theres no chip for the 12v.

Turn on the A/C, make sure the compressor is on (ice crystal icon on the A/C controller). Your second/aux fan should kick in after 1-2 second.

The Aux fan is only turned on when coolant temp gauge reach past 3/4 (almost to overheat) and also it is turned on when the compressor is on. Don't expect the aux fan to be on all the time.

Notice that the compressor can't be turned on when outside is very cold (around 32F?)

Changing clutch fan is not a very big job, just take off bumper. Some people here did it without removing the radiator frame. I did it back then when I changed my timing belt.

Good luck

P.S: Click on the link to my page, I have pictures of changing the clutch fan.

I e-mailed the guys from there and they said they do make one for it. Thanks for the help with the fan, I will check it out after work. It is an A4 by the way. 12v 2.8

Also I notcied on the way to work in about 3rd gear it kinda lags in the lower rpm's. I didn't even notice it till after the exhuast and intake were replaced. Hopeing it is not serious, just feels like it hesitates a little. Thanks again
