I've had an In 1 reminder flashing for the last couple weeks. I finally met up with another AW member who has a VAG-COM for OBD II last night. We got it plugged in and working, but when he tried to access certain "blocks" it came back with error codes. We speculated they were just not part of the older, '97 OBD. We also could not find the correct place to make changes to the In 1, In 2, and oil reminder intervals. In fact, when he tried to check the readiness (I think that's right) it returned an error. It did successfully reset the check engine light, but no luck on the In 1 reminder.

Is my '97 not compliant with standard OBD II? What am I doing wrong? How do I go about resetting the reminders? My searching so far hasn't helped. The stuff I found on AW and at Ross-Tech didn't work on my car. TIA.
