I had to quit because I developed Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, & it just got too painful. I'd wake up in the middle of the night from the intense pain. For some weird reason though, typing doesn't bother me much. It's the precision movements that hurt the most. I can hold an egg sized object with a death grip, but have trouble holding quarters, keys, wrenches, etc. After working on jets for awhile, it's just like working on a car. The price tag of parts & difficulty of working on jets is substantially higher than that of cars, obviously. Working on F-16's was a breeze because you have instant access via quick release fastened panels, & everything is right in front of you. They're also fly-by-wire (no cables for flight controls since everything's electronic). Working on Gulfstreams was a beeotch. Too many cables & access to just about everything required you to be a contortionist & have a good magnet. Of course everytime I dropped a spacer or something, it was always aluminum & a magnet wouldn't work. I spent six hours looking for a spacer once. I really felt sorry for the LearJet & Citation folks because there is NO room for access to anything since their aircraft were too small. Now I just sit behind a desk all day & browse AW & no one here says a thing about it. I'd obviously be fired in the civilian sector, but it'll take an act of congress to get rid of me here, if anyone even cared.

we went from Lear L25's, L25B's to Citation II's then a single Gulfstream. Then there was the mess of prop/turbo prop Shrikes for middle-management. But I never got past the vulgar waste of money flying home alone in the Gulfstream with 2 pilots and an attendant. Always felt a bit awkward and pretentious. Did LOVE the custom Recaro leather seats tho.
