What does the voltmeter indicate while the car is running?? Should be around 14v give or take.

i cant say for sure its not bad but it does read at 14v like its glued there and if i turn my lights on stereo heated seats it jumps a notch back each time (while its runing this is) UrA4 does 120 $ for a tune up sound right and no included in the charge 604 to hook it up to the computer?

What sort of tuneup are you talking about? it all depends on what they are going to do I guess, but typically you drop at leat $100 any thing at a stealer.

Could be the batter, but you'll know for sure once you pull the codes. If they are charging you $120 to do that, walk away. Find someone with a VAG and pull them yourself.

If altenator is dead, there should be battery light turned on, not the CEL.

Try to find someone with VAGCOM or the similar as the dealer or a local shop will only try to rip you off most of the time.

Thats the only way to really know whats going wrong, or a first step in the right direction to the source of the problem.

Get the codes AND thier description (i.e. sporadic, intermittent, etc...) and post them up, we can much better help you from there.
