Please don't reply if your answer to my question is"I can just feel the difference". Drivers seem to be confused with noise most of the time or worse pretend they notice a difference to justify the changes they made let alone time and money spent. I see this forum is dominated by DIY type airbox mods. Do any of them work? Before I spend 600 dollars on material i'd like some Proof that changing the intake tract will make gains?
I am going to Buy time on AWE-tunings Dyno, so i can test these setups for others if nobody has dyno figures

I say that the Cone is not much of an approvment over the K&N panel, not sure what your dads DIY consist of, and which UrS4 mods are you going to use?

I'm talking to my Dad as I write this and he agrees with you as well. We want to see if the Cone can move a lot more air than the panel filter. I'm going to email URS4 to see if he'll sell me his best work (a loaner would be even better (hint hint)), and as far as our setup the "FD kit" (Father & Daughter) will most likely be factory Audi s8 part(s) with a special airmeter placement inspired by my Dad's s8.

1 Stock - Duh :)

2 stock airbox with K@N filter - Little or No Gain

3 lltek cone filter setup, - no gain over stock airbox w/ K&N - engine bay gets too hot, so you do get more air, but its all too hot to be useful. Do a search on the A4 board, some guys put cone filters in, and put a bunch of heat sheilding around the cone, and out to the intake (above the radiator) - they SAY that helped, but I don't recall seeing Dyno results.

4 URS4 intake mods - Again, no dyno results (that I am aware of) to prove hp gain, but I have done some on my car, and have driven another car with them - there is a difference. Perhaps no HP gain, but the car is more fun to drive.
More fun > bigger numbers IMO.

5 And my DAD's DIY which will be similar to the 2001-03 S8 airbox. - Not familiar with this, but keep us posted.
